Godot, Python, C++, GDScript - Apr 2025 to Present - Lead/UI Programmer, Composer, Pixel Artist

Waterjacked! is an upcoming strategy game for Windows, macOS, and Linux where you play as a cactus destroying robots to reclaim your stolen water. Move, rotate, collect, upgrade, and combine modules in your modular GRID gun to create Rube Goldberg-esque systems and pathways and explode your enemies!

On this project I’ve served primarily as Lead Programmer, having helped laid the foundations for the game’s systems and architecture as well as helped carry out the ideas and designs as they’re dreamed up and implemented. We started out as a team of just 3 developers and now we’re up to 8 of us working on this game. It’s been an incredible experience to see the variations, new ideas (good and bad), and overhauls we’ve done over the course of this game’s development and I’m incredibly excited to be able to share it!

We’re using Godot 4 as our engine, with some build support software I’ve developed written in Python to help us iterate and ship quickly. Along with being responsible for the UI implementation and visuals, I’ve had my hands in every other system in the game multiple times, including the gameplay, the enemy AI, and the shop and map. To help make sure we’re able to iterate and be generally nimble with our development, I’ve also done a good chunk of the pixel art; most of the UI and quite a few other miscellaneous bits and pieces are my doing, although I have to give credit to our amazing artists for the characters and backgrounds! I’ve also composed all the music for the game, and I’m super happy with how the overall experience and aesthetic have come together — has there ever been a sci-fi western fantasy pixel art strategy rogue-like before? probably
